Community Educator - Continence NZ

Bio: Janet has been nursing for more than 47 years in the UK and NZ mainly in primary care; the last 20 years in the continence field as a clinical nurse specialist and currently as community educator for Continence NZ. She also has a private business seeing patients in their own homes and educating nurses in rest homes and general practice. She is passionate about helping people manage their incontinence and raising awareness that incontinence is not a normal part of being elderly or female.

 

 

Her topics include:

• Managing urinary conditions in adults (includes pads, products, pessaries, prolapse, menopause)
• Managing bowel conditions in adults
• Bladder and bowel issues in children
• UTIs (including hygiene)
• Catheter management; IDC, SPC (including retention of urine)
