Dr Sandy Richardson is a Senior Lecturer with the Faculty of Health, University of Canterbury and the Nurse Researcher for the Emergency Department at Christchurch Hospital, Canterbury District Health Board. She is a previous Chair of CENNZ (College of Emergency Nurse’s New Zealand) and has been an RN for more than 30 years, including working clinically as an emergency nurse for nearly 20 years. Sandy’s research interests include violence and aggression towards staff , disaster responses, well-being, cultural safety, and socio-political issues.
This session focuses on:
- the reality of a culture of violence, and how to counter this
- managing unacceptable behaviours
- why under-reporting is dangerous
- verbal and sexual harassment, as well as physical and professional risk
- the impact of covid-19
