DR AMANDA LANDERS, MBChB FRACP – Head of Department, Te Tari Whaiora/Department of Medicine, Christchurch

Amanda is the Head of Department of Medicine at the Otago Medical School in Christchurch. In 2020 she commenced a PhD investigating end stage chronic lung disease and their health care network, with the long-term goal of evaluating a model of care. The aim of this thesis was to explore the experiences and perceptions of people with severe COPD, their support people and health professionals regarding end-of-life care service provision, and ultimately inform future healthcare service design. There is now opportunity to institute one or more of the suggestions for change and complete the quality improvement cycle with increased confidence.

In this webinar Amanda will discuss:

• The quality improvement cycles that focus on cost-effectiveness, efficiency and
engagement to allow large-scale change to improve health outcomes

• The relationships, pathways, protocols and decisions in play for people with end-of-life
COPD, their support people and health professionals.
