DR BRONWYN LENNOX THOMPSON
Senior Lecturer, Academic Lead Postgraduate programmes in Pain and Pain Management, University of Otago, Ōtautahi
Persistent pain is one of the most common and complex conditions encountered in healthcare and is often influenced by multiple health conditions, social circumstances, and psychological factors. In this webinar, Dr Lennox Thompson will explore contemporary understandings of pain and the key principles of pain self-management. She will discuss common concerns experienced by people living with persistent pain, including fear of an undiagnosed condition and uncertainty about managing pain independently. The session will cover both pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches and provide practical strategies to support confidence, function, and quality of life through a biopsychosocial approach to care.
