DR. MEGAN DOHERTY – Paediatric Palliative Director – South Asia, Two Worlds Cancer, Program Director, Palliative Care, Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, Ottawa

Dr. Megan Doherty is a specialist in paediatric palliative care at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario and Roger Neilson House (a paediatric hospice) in Ottawa, Canada. Dr. Doherty’s expertise includes developing palliative care programs for children resource-limited and humanitarian settings. She is the Paediatric Palliative Care Program Director for Two Worlds Cancer Collaboration and also works as a telemedicine consultant for Médecins Sans Frontières. Her international work focuses on using technology and virtual training to build local capacity among healthcare workers in vulnerable and resource-limited settings with the development of Project ECHO programs in India, Nepal, Bangladesh, the Philippines, and East Africa.

About the presentation:

Dr. Doherty will discuss palliative care for children, including the common conditions and trajectories for children with serious illnesses. She will discuss best practices in communication with children and their caregivers
