Bio: Orquidea is a New Zealand Therapeutic Recreation Specialist. She is the current Director of Strategic Engagement for the New Zealand Society of Diversional and Recreational Therapists Inc., a national consultant specialising in models of care and support with a strong focus on therapeutic recreation, quality of life, wellbeing, human rights, and non-pharmacological approaches in aged care, community, mental health, and the disability sector.

Her passion lies in using leisure and recreation approaches as a prevention and rehabilitation tool, as well as supporting individuals’ self-determination through meaningful programs that facilitate purpose and a sense of belonging.

Her interests include interprofessional education, innovation and improvement in therapeutic recreation, human rights-based care and support, and global leadership in recreational therapy.
