Ruth is a public health physician and epidemiologist who works in population mental health in academic and public service settings. Ruth led the HRC funded Tupuanuku research study, which focused on physical health care quality and experiences of discrimination in health services for people with mental health and substance use conditions.
This presentation will present results from the Tupuanuku study, including results of a linked data analysis of place of death for people with diagnoses of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder in Aotearoa. It will provide insights into end-of life care and inequality, and discuss the implications for health care providers.
