Ngāti Porou Oranga
Welcome to Ngāti Porou Oranga’s webpage, hosted by My Health Hub, for the recordings of matauranga sessions.
Ngāti Porou Oranga is a subsidiary of Te Runganganui o Ngāti Porou, and provides health services to the Ngāti Porou East Coast region of the North Island. They are one of the smallest Primary Health Organisations (PHO) in New Zealand, with the only Māori owned and operated hospital in the world (Te Puia Springs Hospital – sitting at the heart of the East Coast).
The enrolled population of Ngāti Porou Oranga is over 10,000 and approximately 50% of this population is rural. The proportion of Māori enrolled is around 83%. The population is primarily serviced through six clinics, and services are also provided through its hospital at Te Puia Springs.
We understand the challenges for this rural community accessing suitable matauranga and value working in partnership with them.
