TINA PARATA, Parata Consulting
Tina is of Te Ati Awa, Ngati Toa Rangatira, Ngati Raukawa, Muaupoko, Ngai Tahu and English descent. With over 40 years’ experience in public health, Tina has found success in bridging the gap between cultural groups. Initially nursing in Public Health, then from 2006-2021 working in Palliative Care, supporting turoro Maori and their whanau, as well as supporting and facilitating education sessions for hospice staff and care provider organisations across Aotearoa. In April 2021 she started Parata Consulting, working withclients across the motu and is currently involved in project management for Hospice New Zealand and support for Te Ropu Taki Maori: Hospice New Zealand Maori advisory group and Hospice Kaimahi o te motu.
Tina is passionate about improving health outcomes for Maori and Pasifika and this webinar will discuss: Mauri Mate – a roadmap to improved patient and whanau experience when accessing Palliative Care. It provides a guide for all palliative care providers to deliver services that are culturally appropriate and maintain the mana of Turoro Maori (patients), whanau/caregivers and kaimahi Maori (Maori staff) who engage with hospice or other palliative care providers.
