Dementia is now the third leading cause of death in New Zealand. The number of those living with dementia is predicted to almost double in the next 25 years. This presentation highlights the complications associated with advanced dementia and the management of common symptoms and indications for medication deprescribing. It also\ examines different types of dementia, such as vascular, frontotemporal, and Lewy body dementia, and their unique care challenges. The aim of the presentation is to increase awareness of the unique care needs for individuals with dementia at the end-of-life.
