DR PAUL HUGGAN, Consultant, Infectious Disease at HNZ Waikato | ROBYN MCDOUGAL, Manager of Maternity and Radiology, Dannevirke Hospital

Maternal sepsis is a time-critical, life-threatening condition and remains a leading cause of preventable maternal morbidity and mortality worldwide. In Aotearoa New Zealand, disparities persist, with higher risk among Maori and Pasifika women and those in rural and resource-limited settings.

Dr Paul Huggan, the Sepsis Trust’s co-founder and an infectious disease and acute medicine physician, will outline Aotearoa-specific data, the latest on the new Sepsis guidelines and practical assessment tools and Robyn Macdougal will share her immense rural midwifery experience of over 35 years through case studies and outcomes.
