DENISE VAN AALST RN, MHealSc (PC) – Kowhai Coordinator, Otago Community Hospice

A nurse for nearly forty years, Denise started in the palliative field in the 1990’s. Completing a Master’s Degree in palliative care in 2013, she has since held nursing, clinical leadership and educational roles in palliative care. Being involved with the Kowhai programme at its inception, Denise has remained enthusiastic about the value of good carer education to support them through their journey. Now, as coordinator of the Kowhai Programme through an interesting period of change and development, she sees this latest development as an exciting extension of what hospice offers.
