Presented by:
DR CAMERON SCHAUER, Gastroenterologist, General Physician, Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora – Waitemata
Dyspepsia is common in general practice, but deciding who to test, treat, or refer can be challenging. This session will outline a practical, GP-focused approach to dyspepsia and Helicobacter pylori. It will cover when “test and treat” is appropriate and who requires early endoscopy, in addition to interpreting alarm features in the New Zealand context (including higher-risk groups). It will address rising antibiotic resistance, first-line eradication choices, and test-of-cure. The aim is to provide you with a safe, practical framework for dealing with this common issue and to leave you with tips you can use in practice immediately.
